Stephen Kelsey BSc(Hons)Psy, MBPsS DoN, HPD
The letters after my name stand for:
- I hold an honours degree in Psychology
- Member of The British Psychological Society (BPS), the premier society of psychologists in Britain. Membership of BPS signifies that I have an upper class degree from an accredited university which has been verified, as has my background.
- The Division of Neuropsychology - I am a member of the BPS Neuropsychology section.
- (Hypnotherapy Practitioners Diploma). The HPD is the first nationally accredited hypnotherapy qualification and is externally validated by the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH) and the NCFE, an independent accrediting body.
I am a father of two girls, now in their 20s, and a grandfather of two small boys. I have been both happily married and subsequently divorced.
I was a Senior Police Officer in London for 30 years, during which time I dealt with many people who needed my help. Over time, it became increasingly apparent to me that many of the issues I was handling had their roots in psychology. Therefore, fifteen years ago, I began a serious study of the subject, reading many hundreds of books, culminating in my decision to take a degree in the subject.
I have suffered from 'post-traumatic stress disorder'(policing can be emotionally very hard) and I have also been overweight. In short, like you (whatever age you are), I have lived and experienced the difficulties of life, the benefit of these experiences is that I am far less judgemental than I was as a younger man. I now know we all have times in life when things don't go well for us, but I also know that things can change for the better.
